A Swing for the Hursts

For about a couple of weeks now, Ben and I have debated about getting a swing. Ben has really, REALLY wanted to get one for Remy, but I didn't want to because I didn't really feel like we needed one. So last week, I received a baby swing as a gift from my boss Dee. I knew Ben would be thrilled about the Remy's latest toy. And I was right! The assembly was the first thing Ben did after work! It was almost like watching a kid in the candy store, just to see him put it together.

And then Remy got to try it. He loves it as much as his daddy. Most of the time, he just sits there contently. If he fusses a little bit, he can easily be soothed by switch it from the swing to the cradle sway, or from the cradle sway to the swing. Remy has even fallen asleep in the swing a couple times.

I don't know why I was hesitant about getting the swing now. It definitely lets me do more stuff around the house, which is nice. The swing I guess is for all of us. Although, I think it might have served Dee as well because I am able to get more work done. Either way, I have an awesome boss!

Halloween!

Our Halloween was pretty uneventful. We started by getting up and going to Church. Since Remy has been fitting pretty well in his 0-3 month, and 3 month clothes, I thought I'd put him in a suit I borrowed from my sister-in-law.

Doesn't he just look so cute? Everyone at Church commented on his suit, and on how handsome he looked.

After we came home, I had to put him in something a little bit more festive for Halloween. Remy was too little for any of the baby costumes, so this onesie worked out perfectly.

I had to add this picture, just because I love his neck rolls.

Izzy and Remy

Last week, my sister-in-law Sarah came for a visit from North Carolina for her sister's baby blessings. They made time to come and see us, which is nice since we don't get to see them too often. Ben's mom came down as well so that she could see her grandchildren. We all went out to dinner at Red Robin and had good time catching up.

Shower Time with Dad

Although Remy has enjoyed his baths, we decided to try taking him in the shower. We figured it's more convenient for us anyway.

At first, he wasn't quite sure he liked the shower, with the water dripping over his head. He seemed a little bit confused. But he calmed right down, and even posed for a picture with Dad.

Aw, I love my little boy!

Five Weeks

Our little guy is growing so fast. Everyone tells you that, but it doesn't really mean anything until you see your baby growing right in front of you. At five weeks, he is so much bigger! I can hardly believe this is the same outfit we took him home from the hospital in.

Here are the other pictures, just for comparison:

I had to add this picture too. Lately, Ben has been trying to help Remy sit up on the couch. He's a little young, but Ben got him just right with the help of the pillow. I love the expression on Remy's face.

Like Father, Like Son

If my baby has been looking balder, it's because he is. They tell you in the hospital to brush the baby's hair and scalp to prevent cradle cap, and I have been doing that religiously. However, the past few times I have been brushing his hair it's come out making my little man look...well like an little man. The best part? He's only bald on top!

The funny part is when Ben is sitting there holding Remy and saying, "Did Mom make you lose your hair? I know just how you feel buddy."

Kiki and Remy

Our friends Jon and Maeva came to visit us with their family. It was the first time we had seen them since Remy was born. And although he has definitely gotten bigger, he was no match for Kiora.
She was born 7 weeks before him, and she has the lead in size and weight. She is so cute though with her big cheeks. I loved holding her and she just looks so cute. However, I did want my baby back at the end.

My placid baby

So I'm getting ready for bed when Ben calls to me from the other room, "Lenzy, you have to come check this out." So I come running out of the bathroom to find Ben giggling, yes giggling, and he makes me record this scene:

I like it better when Remy is like this instead of crying.

Four weeks

At four weeks, Remy has grown so much. He can hold his head up for short periods of time now, but we haven't been really able to catch it on camera. Here are our attempts though:

He is so tired here:

He finally just fell asleep. Too much of a workout I guess.

Remy has also started to smile, which is amazing! It just kind of make my heart melt when he does it. Often, it's a half smile when he's falling asleep, but I caught a hint of grin here:

And I just love how he sucking on his fist here. Usually that means he's hungry, which means I need to get in gear and feed him.

My Obedient Son

So, I have discovered that little boys like to pee, not just in their diaper, but EVERYWHERE while you are changing them. Lately that has included on me and Ben, the blinds, the changing table, his diaper stacker, etc. The funniest story about it all involves my mother's visit after Remy was born. One day when she was she offered to change his diaper, but wanted my sister to bring all the changing stuff out to the couch so that she could change him there. This is how our conversation went down:

Me: Mom, Remy has peed while I have changed his diaper every single time today. I don't think the couch is a good idea.

My mom: It'll be fine, he's a good boy and hasn't yet peed on his Nana, and I have changed more diapers than you.

Me: Fine, but you're cleaning up the couch if he does. And I hope he pees on you.

My mom: You don't mean that.

Me: I actually kind of do.

My obedient son, evidenced in the wet spots on my mom's knees:

Three weeks

Remy is three weeks old today!! We were able to take a few pictures of him. He is fitting into his Newborn clothes finally! And he is out of Preemie diapers and onto Newborn size! Yay!

Why is it that we think crying babies are cute? I can't help but love this picture of my baby!

A more peaceful picture of Remy. You can see that we have to fold up the arms of the Sleep and Play outfits so they fit him. He is sure growing though!
